WEB FIRST: Arrest made in LJ man's stabbing

Published June 3, 2009

ANGLETON — A 28-year-old Clute man is charged in the stabbing death of Richard Riley Keller at an Angleton-area bar early Tuesday morning.

Jose “Joey” Ambrocio Garcia, 28, of Clute is charged with murder, according to a press release from the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office. He was arrested late Tuesday night.

Police said Keller, 44, was stabbed multiple times outside the Railhead Bar and Grill in the 5600 block of CR 288 about two miles south of Angleton. He was taken by ambulance to Angleton Danbury Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police believe the motive was robbery and Keller was chosen at random, Sheriff Charles Wagner said.

“He asked for money and when Keller told him no and walked off, he jumped him,” he said. “We have nothing that puts these two together prior to these few seconds in that parking lot.”

Keller lived previously in Lake Jackson but recently had moved to Clute.
