Everyone welcome at Heart of Christmas

ANGLETON — The first one went so well, Cere Muscarella immediately started planning for the second Heart of Christmas celebration.
Pastor of Life Church in Angleton, Muscarella’s church is sponsoring one of 36 booths to be set up on the courthouse square from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 4. Everything at the event is free to the public.
“We’re really glad to be part of it again this year,” Muscarella said. “We’re increasing what we’re doing and are thinking it’s going to be a pretty fun night.”
The church will offer Starbucks coffee, scones and Abuelita, a traditional Mexican hot chocolate.
The price of everything — free — might be a welcome boost to families in a difficult financial climate, Angleton Economic Development Director Patti Worfe said.
“With the tough times that many have been experiencing, we hope this will be an opportunity for the entire family to have a great time at no cost,” she said.
Also free Friday are pictures with Santa, cookies, candy, gingerbread, chili and more, Worfe said.
Two entertainment stages are filled with choirs, dance troupes, youth performances and drill teams.
The Heart of Christmas Parade is filling up and will begin at the Early Childhood Center campus and end at the courthouse square.
Everyone from all communities is welcome, Worfe said.
“We’re really excited about this year’s Heart of Christmas celebration,” she said. “We’re anticipating great weather and a great night that will allow our community to come together and see their friends and neighbors and kick off the holiday season.”
A few booth spaces remain and anyone who would like to sponsor one can call the city at 979-849-4364.
“As long as we have space, we’ll let people sign up,” Worfe said. “We’ll do everything we can to accommodate people up until a couple of days beforehand.”
