Brazosport ISD to talk about ads on buses
The Brazosport ISD board of trustees will discuss whether to sell advertising on school buses when it meets at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Brazosport ISD administration building, 301 Brazoswood Drive.
The district is looking at options to increase revenue, Superintendent Joe Ripple said. A law was passed that allows advertisements to be placed on certain areas of a school bus, he said.
No advertisement for alcohol, tobacco, gambling or religion would be allowed under provisions of the state law, he said.

Gas line blaze extinguished
Firefighters put out a 4-inch gas line that caught fire on Saturday afternoon in a field off CR 227.
The above-ground pipe that leads to a well pump, caught fire amid a controlled burn on 400 acres of land, Brazoria County Fire Marshal Al Priselac said.
The landowner did not intend the fire to burn in the pipe’s direction, he said.
“Evidently, the wind changed direction,” Priselac said. The pipe burned for 35 minutes before it was put out by Demi-John firefighters. Danbury Fire Department also was at the scene, Priselac said.
