WEB FIRST: Suspect who fled hospital on lam

LAKE JACKSON — A 29-year-old robbery suspect escaped police custody about 6 p.m. Saturday after he was taken to Brazosport Regional Health System complaining of chest pains, officers said.
Shane Radcliff was arrested about 4 p.m. Saturday and charged with robbery after fighting with two loss prevention officers as he atempted to leave a business in the 100 block of Highway 332 East, according to Lake Jackson Police Sgt. James Cromeenes.
The loss prevention officers, who received bruises during the struggle, believed Radcliff was trying to leave the store with merchandise he did not pay for, police said.
According to Cromeenes, Radcliff was taken to the hospital after complaining of chest pains 4:30 p.m. Saturday. He slipped out of the hospital after asking to go to the bathroom, police said. A nurse informed officers Radcliff was missing about 6 p.m. Saturday.
As of 10 p.m. Saturday, police still were searching for Radcliff with the aid of the Clute Police Department and other law enforcement agencies, according to Cromeenes.
