Published October 23, 2009
CLUTE — An Elizabet Ney Elementary student went by ambulance to Brazosport Regional Health System as a precaution at 11:30 a.m. Friday after a pickup hit the back of the bus she and 16 other students were riding in, district officials said.
Two buses were returning from a field trip to Brazosport College on Friday morning and each stopped at the railroad crossing on Oyster Creek Drive just before Old Angleton Road, Deputy Superintendent Dennis McNaughten said.
A pickup hit the back of the bus, jolting the students, McNaughten said. The white Ford pickup immediately left the accident, Clute Officer Kevin Garcia said.
One of the students complained of a headache and was taken to Brazosport Regional Health System as a precaution, McNaughten said.
Parents of all of the students were called and some parents picked up their children. The rest were taken back to Ney Elementary, he said.
Police are looking for the driver of the pickup, McNaughten said.
